We’ve teamed up with digital healthcare service, Babylon, so you can access an English speaking GP from almost anywhere around the world* plus 24/7 health information. This is an additional, but more importantly, free service available to all Columbus Direct customers. You simply need to register after taking out your policy to take advantage of the benefit.
* There may be rules where you are located which mean that doctor consultations cannot be provided by a doctor in the UK, such as in the USA, and you should check this prior to booking an appointment.
How to register with Babylon?
Once you’ve purchased your Columbus insurance, you’ll receive a welcome email which provides you with full details on how to register for the service. You’re able to register all members of your policy, making sure that you can all take advantage of this exclusive free service, all for being one of our customers.
Download the app
Babylon enables users to have virtual consultations with English speaking doctors and health care professionals via text and video messaging through its interactive mobile app. Once you’ve registered with Babylon, download the app from your applicable app store and you can use the app to check your symptoms quickly and easily. For Android users, it’s called “Babylon: online doctors & NHS GP at hand”, and on iOS devices, it’s “Babylon Health”. Get information on prescriptions and where to get them from within the European Economic Area (EEA).

Expert medical support and advice
Babylon’s network of healthcare professionals are available to give you medical advice, answer your questions and give you peace of mind. Once you’ve requested an appointment, Babylon aim to fulfil your request within 2 hours. You’re able to select a time and date which is convenient to you, and select between video or audio-only chat. The app also allows you to add notes and pictures to your request, so your GP is able to start making a possible diagnosis immediately.
Babylon's experienced doctors, specialists and therapists are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and operate to high clinical standards.
Appointment reply
Another excellent app feature is the ability to quickly view medical notes, and replay a recording of your consultation anytime, as many times as you need - so don’t panic if you can’t quite remember the doctor’s advice. All data is encrypted and stored securely to guarantee your privacy.
